Log App vs Daylio

Daylio made mood tracking a two-tap habit, a face and a few activity icons, and it does that very well. Log App asks for a number out of ten, an optional energy score and a note, and treats the mood log like any other log with a goal, a heatmap and an AI summary. The difference is in how much you want to write down and what you want back.

Facts about Daylio come from its public feature list as of September 2026 (daylio.net) and are kept general on purpose. If something has changed, tell us and we fix the page.

Who each one suits

Better for

Daylio is better if

  • You want the lowest-effort check-in possible, a face and a few icons, and nothing to type.
  • You like activity correlations ("mood is higher on days with sport") straight from the app.
  • You want a PIN on the app itself.

Log App is better if

  • You think of mood as a number and want an average, a minimum and a trend, not a count of faces.
  • You already keep other logs and want mood next to sleep or symptoms in one app.
  • You write a sentence most days and want that note searchable later.
  • You want an AI summary of the last weeks in plain language, without a report to interpret.
Switching

Moving from Daylio to Log App

There is no automatic transfer yet. CSV import is planned and tracked on the public roadmap; until it ships, the honest path is to start fresh and keep your old data where it is.

  1. Install Log App and pick "Mood" during setup. The log has Mood and Energy out of ten and a goal of daily entries.
  2. Map your Daylio faces onto numbers before you start (for example rad 9, good 7, meh 5, bad 3, awful 1) so your old and new entries mean the same thing.
  3. Add a tag per activity you used to tap in Daylio. Tags are free text and searchable, so "sport" or "friends" works.
  4. Daylio can export your history as CSV (premium). Log App does not import it yet; CSV import is planned. Keep the export somewhere safe until it lands.
Questions

Frequently asked

Is Log App as quick as Daylio for a daily check-in?

Nearly. Tap plus, type a number, save. Energy and the note are optional. Daylio's icon picker is faster if you tap many activities per entry.

Does Log App show correlations between activities and mood?

Not as a chart. The AI summary reads your entries, tags and notes and describes what it sees, and a text variable with per-value stats gives you an average mood per value.

Can I import my Daylio history?

Not yet. CSV import is on the roadmap. Export from Daylio now and keep the file.

Is my mood log private?

Entries stay on your phone until you sign in, then they sync to your account. No one else sees them and there is no feed. Log App does not have an app PIN; use the phone's lock.

The short version

Daylio is the right tool if the two-tap habit is what keeps you logging. Log App suits people who want mood on a scale they can average, next to the sleep and symptom logs it probably correlates with. Neither is a medical device; both are records you keep for yourself.
