Diveboard is a community dive log, a site database and dive-computer import wrapped into one account on the web and on the phone. Log App is a private logbook where a dive is one entry with depth, water temperature, bottom time and a pin on your own map, and it works with no account and no signal on the boat. Who each one suits

Better for

Diveboard is better if

You dive with a computer and want the profile imported rather than typed.
You want to discover sites and read what other divers logged there.
You keep a public dive count and share dives with buddies.

Log App is better if

You log dives by hand and want it done in ten seconds on the boat, without a connection.
You would rather nobody see your log, and you do not need a site database.
You want your own map of dives and a photo of the slate with each entry.
Diving is one of several things you log and you want them in one app.

Switching

Moving from Diveboard to Log App

There is no automatic transfer yet. CSV import is planned and tracked on the public roadmap; until it ships, the honest path is to start fresh and keep your old data where it is.

Install Log App and pick "Diving" during setup. The log has Depth in metres (or feet, following your locale) and Water Temp, with the timer for bottom time and a pin for the site.
Add the variables you used in Diveboard that matter to you, such as Visibility, Gas or Buddy. Keep it short; the log is meant to be filled in on a boat.
Drop a pin on the site for each dive. The log's map fills in as you go and place search finds named sites.
Diveboard exports dive logs; Log App does not import them yet. CSV import is planned. Keep your export and your paper logbook; a dive count for certification should still come from a signed record.

Frequently asked

Does Log App connect to my dive computer?

No. Depth, temperature and time are typed after the dive. If computer import matters, Diveboard or your computer's own app is the better home for profiles.

Can I see other people's dives or sites?

No. Log App has no community. Your map shows only your own dives.

Can I move my Diveboard log across?

Not automatically. CSV import is on the public roadmap. Until then, start Log App fresh and keep the Diveboard export.

Does Log App work without signal?

Yes. Entries save on the phone first. Sign in later and they sync; stay a guest and they stay local.

The short version

Diveboard and Log App are not really competing for the same diver. If the computer profile and the site community are the point, Diveboard is the log. If you want a quick private record of each dive with depth, temperature, a photo and a pin, and you would like it next to your other logs, Log App is the lighter choice.
